Katherine is mother to 2 amazing grown sons, and 5 precious non biological sons and daughters, wife to the love of her life, and daughter of The Lord Jesus Christ. The family farm macadamias in a beautiful valley in Queensland Australia. Katherine is a teacher, homeschooler, farmer, and artist. Enjoying close and happy relationships within the family unit, and with much valuable hindsight from a range of experiences; her heart is to share lessons learned the hard way with younger women, mothers, and wives to enable them to reach their God-given potential and achieve peace, joy and productivity while raising God honouring children, in a Christ centred family! Sound impossible? She thought so too… but ..
“Jesus looked at them and said, “With man it is impossible, but not with God. For all things are possible with God.” Mark 10:27 (NLT)
My name is Adele Huntington and I’m looking forward to sharing some of my motherhood journey with you. Actually I’m a great grandmother and I’ve been married to my husband, Barry, for over 55 Years. We’ve had a wonderful, adventurous marriage as we’ve sought to follow God’s leading. We’re grateful to God for good health and the opportunities to continue to enjoy life together. We have three wonderful sons, Randal, Scott and Justin who are each married to lovely wives; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
One of the great pleasures of my life is family get-togethers. As I look around at them all enjoying time together, I feel as if my cup is running over with thankfulness to God for each one of them. All of our grandchildren are either teenagers or young adults now. Nearly all of them are serving the Lord in some way either as leaders for a younger group or in other ministries. It’s exciting to see grandkids as they are now and to recall the development they have made over the years. I’m grateful for the parenting skills I’ve seen my sons and their wives applying, and for the love that abounds in their homes. I’m also thankful that our sons and their wives are all involved in ministry in some way or another.
As I look at my family, my mind goes back to the days when I was a young mother. One of my greatest prayers then was that, through my children, God would multiply my own personal desires to see people come to know the Lord and to grow in their love for Him. I believe God has answered that prayer and I’m thankful to Him for that. As I look back over those years of young motherhood, I also realise that there were a number of thoughts, ideas and Bible verses that guided me along the way. Yes, I did read books on each stage of my children’s development and was involved in discussion groups for young mothers etc Those things are helpful at the time, but the things that I recall most and probably which have guided me most consistently, were those pithy, one sentence guiding principles which I sought to put into practice. I hope to share some of these gems briefly with you from time to time under the title, A Gem from Grandma. It’s not an easy road being a mum, but it can be very fulfilling. I’m praying that as you read my Gems, you will be blessed and helped along the way.
Hello, my name is Brookelynne. I was raised in a loving Christian family as the eldest of three children. I met my husband way back in primary school and we married when we were 20 years old. Now twenty-two, we moved back to our home town to be surrounded by family as we began our own little family.
I am a qualified nutritionist (https://www.bm-nutrition.com) and have a passion for learning about how to live well and help others look after themselves and their families. I enjoy all things homemaking, such as sourdough baking, decorating homey spaces, and organising. But most of all, I love spending time with my family and going on walks with my new little family.
During my pregnancy I came across the Bible verse about a Titus 2 woman and, with the responsibility I knew I had ahead of me, I began praying for a mentor in the faith. Well God answered that prayer and now I meet weekly with Katherine over a cup of tea, to discuss all things surrounding a Christ centred marriage and motherhood. I am now a new mummy to a precious little baby boy and loving every second.
“3 Similarly, teach the older women to live in a way that honours God. They must not slander others or be heavy drinkers. Instead, they should teach others what is good. 4 These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands and their children, 5 to live wisely and be pure, to work in their homes, to do good, and to be submissive to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on the word of God.”
Titus 2:3-5
